What is now called Goulbourn Middle School started on September 3, 1986. Prior to this date, the school was known as Goulbourn Township Public School. The former school served Kindergarten to grade-eight students from the immediate area and the grade-six students from Munster and Richmond Public Schools. The former school was also designated the Late French Immersion (L.F.I.) Centre for all grade seven and eight students, including those interested in the Program from A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary School. Effective September, 1996, as a Middle School, G.M.S. became the public school setting for all grade six, seven, and eight students in Goulbourn Township. The feeder schools are: Westwind Public School, Munster Public School, Richmond Public School, John Young Elementary School and Stittsvile Public School and G.M.S. is also one of the feeder schools for South Carleton High School.
