The skyscraper was built on the site of the former Hotel Devonshire, as the headquarters of the Bank of British Columbia in 1987 by WZMH Architects. The building's lobby features a gigantic magnetically induced pendulum artwork entitled "Broken Column" by Alan Storey. The building has been home to HSBC Canada since 1987.
