About Leslieville

Leslieville is an east-end Toronto neighbourhood centred along Queen Street East between the Don River and Greenwood Avenue. The area is named after George Leslie, a nurseryman who operated a large plant nursery on the land in the mid-1800s. Through much of the 20th century, Leslieville was a working-class neighbourhood associated with the nearby brickyards, factories, and rail yards.

The neighbourhood began attracting new residents and businesses in the 2000s as rising prices in downtown Toronto pushed homebuyers eastward. Queen Street East became a destination for independent restaurants, vintage shops, and cafes, and the neighbourhood's stock of affordable Victorian and Edwardian homes drew young families and first-time buyers. By the 2010s, Leslieville had become one of Toronto's most talked-about neighbourhood transitions.

Greenwood Park is the neighbourhood's largest green space, featuring sports fields, a swimming pool, a skating rink, and playground facilities.
